Federico Luna rsFederico C. Luna, 97, known by many as Fred, Tony, Kid Moon and Woody passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving family.

Federico was born in Hillsboro, NM to Federico and Romelia Luna on January 19, 1919.

He was indeed a very unique and kind person. He easily made friends with young, middle-age or whoever would come his way.

He always was making sure he had a clean yard and he had a passion for painting.

He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. In the 1930's he spent time in the CC camp in Reserve, NM. In 1940 he married Estefana Rubio and from this union he had a son, Fred "Stretch" Luna of Hillsboro; grandson, Freddy Luna of Albuquerque; a daughter, Stephanie "Rebecca" Salazar of El Paso, TX; grandson, Claudio Salazar of El Paso, TX.

In the 1960's he served as a constable for the Grant County Sheriff's Office.

In the 80's he retired from Kennecott Copper Corporation working both in the underground and open pit mine as an equipment operator for a total of 34 years.

In 1982 he married Susie Tenorio who then inherited two sons, Danny (Amy) and Ted (Mary) Tenorio; two daughters, June Tapia and Mary Ellen (Jerry) Henson; from this union he had 18 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. He also had a grandson, Joedon Tenorio of Albuquerque.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Romelia; brother, Genaro; sister, Tarcilla and Bertha Holden whom he loved as a daughter and many cousins.

Visitation will be Monday, August 29 from 9-10am at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with the holy rosary to begin at 10am with Deacon Bill Holguin reciting. Concluding service an interment will follow at Hillsboro cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Freddy Luna, Claudio Salazar, Joedon, Ted and Danny Tenorio, Jack Abeyta. Honorary pallbearers will be Abel Luna, Bobby Padilla, Danny Padilla, Stanley Luna and the remainder of his family and friends.
