HURSHIL L. MADDOX JR., 76, resident of Deming passed away Thursday September 1, 2016 at his home.

Hurshil was born April 9, 1940 in Conway, Arkansas to Hurshil and Mildred (Banister) Maddox.

He served his country honorably in the United States Navy and afterward he was a Master Electrician and had worked in the mining industry in San Manuel, Arizona and also in several affiliated construction sites. Hurshil has been a resident of Deming since April 2009 having previously lived in Columbus and Silver City. In Silver City he owned and operated HLM Electric from 1994 until 2009. He has been a member of the Masonic Lodge for 44 years and enjoyed fishing, spending time with his wife Janine, and always had time to help others in need.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Janine Maddox of the home; his daughters, Karen, Debbie, and Melinda; brother, Billy Maddox (Nellie) of Pryor, OK, sister, Sandra Lilly (Sam) of Owasso, OK, sister in law, Martha Mullins.

Visitation will be Tuesday September 6, 2016 from 10 to 2 at Baca's Funeral Chapel where funeral services will begin at 2 o'clock with Pastor Daniel Mullins officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. View Cemetery with military honors accorded and concluding services will be officiated by the Deming Masonic Lodge #12 AF & AM.
