William Guenthart rsWilliam A. Guenthart, 89, of Silver City passed away on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at Fort Bayard Medical Center in Santa Clara, NM.

William was born on November 12, 1926 in Wilmar, California to Albert Russell Guenthart and Eva May Branscomb.

He was married to Enola May White from 1944 until her death in 1979. Together they raised their four children in California.

He served his country honorably in the United States Navy during World War II.

After the service, William worked as an electrician in California. He moved to Deming and owned and operated Desert Sands Bowling Alley in Deming, NM. Besides being an avid bowler, he enjoyed spending time fishing.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Lavonne Guenthart, one son Larry of Kuna, Idaho; three daughters, Susan Smith of Sacramento, CA, Nancy Browne of Victorville, CA, and Janet Hanke of Mallot, WA; one brother Carl Guenthart; two step-daughters Debra Miller, of Upton WY, and Joyce Ruebush of Hanover, NM; two step-sons, Bernard Miller of AZ, and Alfred Miller of Newcastle, WY; also surviving him are many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Enola, a step-daughter Kathy Miller, a granddaughter Wendy Leventry, four brothers, Albert, James, Donald and Fred Guenthart, three sisters, Mildred Barry, Shirley Jones, and Patricia Sneed.

At his request, cremation has taken place and his ashes will be placed at Ft. Bayard National Cemetery.
