Clorinda P. Gonzales, 84, of Bayard passed away on September 7, 2016 at her home surrounded by her family.

"Granny", as she was affectionately known, was born December 23, 1931 in Santa Rita, NM to Jose and Delfina Preciado. A lifelong area resident she was a member of the Catholic Church and her love for flowers started when she worked at Cecilia's Flower Shop for many years. After that, she was able to open and own her business, "Cori's House of Flowers". Clorinda had also worked for many years as the shoe department manager at the local K Mart Store. She loved singing and dancing with her family and was best known for her cooking for all her family and friends.

Clorinda is survived by one son, Alfonso Gonzales, Jr (Patsy); two daughters, Gloria Gonzales Duran (Roy) and Alice M. Casares (Rick). Two brothers, Jose "Sonny" Preciado (Mary) and Raymundo Preciado. Two sisters, Celia Ojinaga and Aurelia Ortiz. Seven grandchildren, Mo Gonzales, Alissa Pena, Al "Son" Gonzales, Kaissa Duran, Marisela Duran, Javier Casares, and Jaime Casares. Also surviving are six great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfonso P. Gonzales Sr. and a sister, Hortencia "Tencha" Apodaca.

Cremation has been entrusted to Baca's Funeral Chapels. The recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at 6 o'clock in the evening on Monday, September 12, 2016 at Baca's Funeral Chapels. The Funeral Liturgy will be at 9:30 in the morning on Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Bayard, NM with Fr. Paulus Kao officiating. The Rite of committal and burial will follow at 11 am at Fort Bayard National Cemetery.
