Sylvia Young Sensanbaugher, a resident of Silver City, NM passed away Friday, October 7, 2016 at the Beehive Home in Bernalillo, NM.

She was born March 23, 1932 in Binghampton (Tucson), Arizona to Everett Alma Young and Helen McRae and was the fourth of eight children.

Sylvia married Ray Scott Sensanbaugher, Jr. on August 31, 1950 in Silver City, NM.

She and Ray moved to Fullerton, CA in 1955. When Ray retired in 1981, they returned to Silver City.

Sylvia's greatest treasures were her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by two daughters: Jan Rae Hanken (Mike Walters) of Rancho Cucamonga, CA and Jo Ann Mulkern (Peter) of Provo, UT. Also, two sons: Ray Scott Sensanbaugher III (Rebecca) of Rio Rancho, NM and Ken Nichols Sensanbaugher (Julie) of Columbus, IN. She is also survived by eight grandchildren: Steven, Bryce, David, Kevin, Jennifer, Caleb, Joshua, and Joseph; and three great-grandchildren: Andrew, Eli, and Elizabeth. She is also survived by her sister Patricia of West Valley City, UT and her three brothers, Robert of Silver City, NM, Winslow of Centerville, UT, and Thomas of Springfield, OH.

Syliva was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ray, brothers Ralph and Richard, sister Gwen, son Rex, and one grandson, Gavin.

She was a lifelong learner and homemaker. Later in life, Syliva went back to school and completed a Bachelor's Degree in Botany and Biology from Western New Mexico University. She had a love of gardening and loved spending time as she called it "playing in the dirt" growing all kinds of fruit trees and vegetables.

Sylvia dearly loved her Heavenly Father and Savior Jesus Christ. She was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many capacities in the church.

Sylvia was always very generous with her time and loved serving others. She was always willing to sacrifice and share her talents and her time with others.

Syliva and her husband Ray were part of the "Over the Hill Gang" band that played and entertained at local rest homes and community events. She played the piano and the organ and taught herself to play the drum. Sylvia will be sorely missed by her family, her friends, and the community of Silver City.

The family would like to specifically thank the loving and caring staff of Beehive Home in Bernalillo, New Mexico for the loving care and treatment they gave her in her last year of life.

This corner of the world is a better place because of Sylvia Sensanbaugher and the life she lead.
