Jahziel Hernandez Ortiz, 19, Deming resident passed away Thursday October 6, 2016 in Lamesa, Texas.

Jahziel was born December 12, 1996 in Las Cruces to Rosie Hernandez Ortiz. He was presently an electrical helper currently employed for Elite Electric Company from Lubbock, Texas. In December 2014 he graduated from Youth Challenge in Roswell, had attended New Mexico State University and attended the local Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.

He is survived by his mother, Rosie H. Ortiz; brother, Gabriel Ortiz; grandfather, Isidro Ortiz and aunt, Lucy (Benjie) O. Cano all of Deming; cousins, Benjie, Fernando and Cesar Cano, many other beloved relatives and friends.

Jahziel was preceded in death by his grandmother, Sabina Ortiz.

Visitation will begin this afternoon, Friday October 14, 2016 at 4 o'clock at Baca's Funeral Chapel with a Discourse to begin at 7 o'clock led by the Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. A Prayer Service will take place Saturday, October 15, 2016 at 2 o'clock in the afternoon at Baca's Funeral Chapel. Concluding services and interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. Humberto Saenz will preside.

Serving as pallbearers will be Gabriel Ortiz, Jose Holguin, Fernando Cano, Cesar Cano, Benjie Cano and Rigo Guzman.
