Oliver Otero rsOliver Otero passed away on October 15, 2016, born on July 10, 1937 to Pantaleon and Rosa Otero in Garfield, NM.

Oliver touched many lives with his kind loving spirit, and gentle manner, using his brilliant mind to push himself to leave things better than he found them. One of favorite his quotes was "Where O death, is your victory? Where O death, is your sting?" l Corinthians 15:55.

In his lifetime he enjoyed a little bit of everything. Oliver was a good listener interested in people's education, aims, and accomplishments. He loved the incredible gifts of nature that surround us calling it all, "God's Country."

Being an avid reader, he had quite a collection of books which included an entire collection of Louis L'amour that he was proud of. He always had a warm smile and friendly handshake for those around him. He enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren encouraging them and all others to follow their dreams.

Retired from Kennecott/Phelps Dodge, he enjoyed reading, cooking, fishing, camping and was one great terrific pool player.

Oliver didn't miss hearing and seeing the daily Mass and Sundays, on EWTN he felt blessed by having met some of the Franciscan Friars on a trip to Phoenix, AZ.

Oliver is survived by his wife, Helen of 35 years, son, James Otero; daughter, Rose Otero-Molina both of Santa Fe, NM. Stepchildren, Tonette Torres (Ernie); Nicki Zapata (Johnny); Louis Herrera (Cecilia) of Whidbey Island, WA; Kenneth Herrera (Angelique) of Silver City; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews which includes a special niece, Renee.

He was preceded in death by his parents, infant sister Ana Herlinda; brother, Ralph Otero; sons, Anthony and Eddie Otero; nephew, Joe Martinez; baby daughter, Ana Herlinda; step-daughter, Rosalie Bernadette Bradfield. Oliver was the best husband, father, uncle, brother, cousin, friend, grandpa and "grandpoo" anyone could ask for.

Visitation will be Tuesday, October 25 from 8:30-9:30am at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with the prayer vigil and holy rosary to begin at 9:30am with Deacon David Casta+
