Boug Thomas, 84, of Silver City, NM was given eternal rest on Mon., Oct. 24, 2016, at his home surrounded by his wife of 59 years, son, daughter and grandson. He had fought a valiant fight against cancer.

He was born in Hurley, NM, in 1931 to Hunley and Ruby Thomas.

Most of his early years were spent in Deming, NM.

He proudly served in the Armed Services. When he and Nancy got married he moved to Silver City and established Thomas Welding. He was a master welder and his work was admired by all. He shared his talent with many aspiring welders and they have continued in his footsteps. His welding projects are spread throughout Silver City, and outlying areas.

He was one of the original old Hurley Roping Club gang, a member of the USTRC and World Series team roping. In later years when he stopped roping he lived vicariously through his son and grandson roping. He attended every roping event his daughter took him to as a proud "roping papa".

He thought his purpose in life was to feed his horses and dogs. His 15 month great-granddaughter was the light of his life.

He is remembered by all as an honest man with a contagious smile, kindness to all and a witty personality.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Tipton Thomas; son, Mike "Radar" Thomas; daughter, Lindy Poe (Johnny); grandson, Garrett Poe (Charli), granddaughter, Karlee Sachnelbach, great-granddaughter, Bentley Poe, and one sister, Ruby Haver.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 28, 2016 at 4pm at Terrazas Funeral Chapel with the family officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made to Rope4Hope/GRMC Cancer Center ~ PO Box 302 Cliff, NM 88028.

Arrangements are with Terrazas Funeral Chapels & Crematory "Trusted care for the ones you love" ~ 575-537-0777.
