Billy Burt rsBilly Burt, 55, resident of Lordsburg passed away Saturday October 29, 2016 at his home.

Billy was born September 16, 1961 in Lordsburg to William and Sandra (Palacios) Burt.

His family lived in Luna County for a while and Billy graduated from Deming High School in 1981. Shortly thereafter he moved to Lordsburg where he worked in several restaurants as either a bartender or waiter.

He was a member of the Optimist Club and the Lordsburg Elks Lodge.

Billy enjoyed participating in local activities and always held a special passion for making sure our deceased veterans were recognized by placing flags at their resting site on Veterans Day.

He was always an avid fan of the Lordsburg Mavericks and the Washington Redskins.

Billy was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church.

He is survived by his mother, Sandra M. Burt of Silver City; roommate Frank "Pancho" Newell of Lordsburg; brother Juan Burt; Godsons, R.J. Jemente and Adrian C. Toscano; his four legged companion "Pepe"; and numerous cousins and extended family. He was especially appreciative of his caregivers, Terri Bejarano, Denise (Sybil) Smith, Mary Jo Jemente "Comadre", Cecilia "Cici" Gomez, Terri Ann Bravo, and Gloria Hendrix.

Visitation will be this Friday, November 4, 2016 beginning at 9 o'clock in the morning at St. Joseph's Catholic Church where a prayer vigil will begin at 10 o'clock led by Alice Ramirez. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 o'clock with Fr. Jude Okonkwo, Pastor officiating. Concluding services and interment will follow at Shakespeare Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Richard Jemente, Kelly Gomez, Mike Hendrix, Ronnie Gonzales, Ruben Ramirez, and Jesse Gonzales. Honorary bearers are Benny Ramon, Adrian Toscano, R.J. Jemente, Chevi Lopez, Tyler Bednorz and Lonnie Carrasco.
