Anna Wright RSAnna Mae Wright, 89, a longtime resident of Redrock, passed away Saturday December 10, 2016, at La Posada Hospice in Las Cruces.

Anna Mae was born December 15, 1926, in Deming to George and Lola (Johnson) Hammond. She married Ralph Wright in 1946 and shortly thereafter they moved to the family homestead in Redrock where they made their home and raised their family. Her children remember her as being a fantastic cook (especially her rolls) and as always being a wonderful and caring wife, mom, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Anna Mae continued a tradition of the family as being a weather observer for the National Weather Service and was nationally recognized for being the West's longest active weather observer. She was also a lifetime member of the Order of Eastern Star and served as Worthy Matron of the Lordsburg chapter several times.

She is survived by her children: Parlee Waters (Travis) of Trenton, TX, Hunt Wright (Alleena) of Klamath Falls, OR, Kathy Martinez (Tony) of Yates, NM, and Bill Wright (Teri) of Redrock; brother, Richard Hammond (Pat) of Albuquerque; sisters, Pearl Walter of West Jordan, UT, and Ruby Price of Douglasville, GA; 12 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Anna Mae was preceded in death by her husband Ralph and 3 grandchildren: Jacob Wright, Jeffrey Waters, and Lindsey Martinez.

Funeral services will be Saturday, December 17, 2016, at 10 o'clock in the morning at The First Baptist Church of Lordsburg with Rev. Will Lackey, Pastor, officiating. Concluding services and interment will follow at Mt. View Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Waters, Aaron Waters, David Wright, James Wright, T.J. Martinez, Jack Martinez and Will Wright.
