Marion Harrop rsMarion Harrop of Deming, entered eternal life on December 19, 2016 at home surrounded by her loved ones.

Born in Marseilles, Illinois on October 4, 1927 to Ella Davis Thompson and James Davis. She was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed visits and spending time with her family and traveling. She was also a loving pet owner. Marion married Glen Harrop on August 23, 1947 then later married Don K Fish on January 8, 1992.

Prior to moving to Deming, NM in 1988 Marion worked for K-Mart for 20 years. She was a life member of the following organizations: American Legion Auxiliary Bataan Unit #0004 where she served as Department of New Mexico President 1997-1998; Deming Rebekah Lodge #16 where she served as Noble Grand 1996 and District Deputy 2000; DAV; Purple Heart New Mexico; VFW; L.C.R.O.A; and AmVets.

Don and Marion liked to travel; they went to Department and National Conventions for the American Legion and American Legion Auxiliary. Their mutual feeling was seeing the world together when they had the time and funds, traveling to Rome, Paris, London, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Cancun, Nova Scotia, and the East Coast - Boston and Maine.

She is survived by her four children; Gary J. Harrop of Katy, TX., Maureen Harrop of Chatham, IL., Joseph Harrop and wife Marie of Mesa, AZ., Gwen Miller and husband Ed of Deming. Other survivors include three grandchildren, Katherine Mitchell of Shawnee, KS., Christi Jo Harrop Haywood of Portage, IN., Abbi Cabeen and husband Mark both actively serving in the U.S. Air Force of Green Valley, AZ. There are also thirteen great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ella Davis Thompson and James Davis, brother James Davis (1979), first husband Glen Harrop (1974), and second husband Don K Fish (2005); and grandson Derek Harrop Miller (2009).

Visitation will begin Tuesday morning December 27, 2016 at 9 o'clock at Baca's Funeral Chapel with the funeral service to follow at 1 o'clock and a Memorial at Post 4, 619 W. Spruce St. Cremation will be by Baca's Mimbres Crematory.

In lieu of flowers monetary donations are being accepted by the American Legion Auxiliary Bataan Unit #0004 for Girls State.
