Bette Bright rsSarah Elizabeth "Bette" Bright 93 went to be with the Lord December 23, 2016 at Santa Clara Assisted Living.

Bette was born in April 1923 in Greene County, Tennessee.

Bettes' family moved from Chuckey, Tennessee and homesteaded in Buckhorn, NM in 1927. She was four years old at the time. She attended Cliff School and was Valedictorian of her Senior Class in 1941.

Bette went on to attend college for two years at the University of New Mexico. She began working for Community Public Service Company in 1947. It later became Texas New Mexico Power Company and is now known as PNM. She was the Division Accountant. She loved and took great pride in her job.

After retirement, she became a Pink Lady with Gila Regional Medical Center Auxiliary. She enjoyed her job and treasured friends and those she met through her volunteer work.

Bette was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Silver City, NM. Bette enjoyed reading, art music and traveling.

She is survived by four nephews, Richard Dinwiddie, Chuck Dinwiddie, Mark Bright, Kirk Bright and three nieces Carolyn Raley, Terry Hale and Beverly Chappell.

She was preceded in death by her parents Eulalie Huffaker Bright and Grince Ober Bright of Cliff, NM, her brother Harold Bright of Knoxville, TN, sisters Margery Dinwiddie and Helen Kartchner of Cliff, NM.

In Bettes' memory and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gila Mesa Cemetery, PO Box 435, Gila, NM 88038 or Gila Regional Auxiliary, 1313 E. 32nd Street, Silver City, New Mexico 88061.

A Memorial Service will be held at Bright Funeral Home Chapel on January 7, 2017 at 1:00pm with Reverend John Cheek officiating. Inurnment will follow at Mesa Cemetery in Gila, NM.
