Lucy C. Lucero, 79 of Bayard, NM passed away February 19, 2017 at Gila Regional Medical Center surrounded by her family.

Serving as pallbearers will be Mark Bell, Matthew Bell, John Andujo, Cody, Jackson, Beau Jackson and James Baca. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Bell, Timothy Bell, Kasey Jackson, Cory Jackson, Dr. John Bell, Daniel Lucero, Dr. Mike Bell and Rory Jackson.

Lucy was born July 20, 1937 in Bayard, NM to Juan and Maria Luisa (Jacquez) Candelaria. She was a lifelong resident of the area and was a member of the Roman Catholic Church. Lucy's greatest joy was to spend time with her family and especially her grandchildren. She could always be found reading her books and novels as well as fishing and being outdoors.

Lucy is survived by her husband, Ramon Lucero; four sons, Michael Lucero of Bayard, NM; Daniel Lucero of Blythe, CA; Peter Lucero (Traci) of Arenas Valley, NM; John Andujo (Felicia) of Albuquerque, NM. Two daughters, Kathleen Bell (Matthew) of Las Cruces, NM and Bonnie Facio of Deming, NM. Grandchildren Cody Jackson (Hannah), Cory Jackson (Keenan), Kasey Jackson, Amythest Bell, Jimmy Bell, Timothy Bell, Mary Ellen Guerrero (Tony), James Baca (Erin); Santino, Andy, John Jr., and Fiona Andujo. Also surviving her are many nieces, nephews and family.

Lucy was preceded in death by her daughter, Margaret Louise Lucero as well as her brothers and sisters.

The Prayer Vigil and Rosary will be at 10:30 in the morning on Friday, February 24, 2017 at Infant Jesus Shrine in Hurley with the Funeral Liturgy to follow immediately. Concluding services and burial will be at 1:00 o'clock in the afternoon at Fort Bayard National Cemetery. Officiating will Be Father Francisco Diaz.
