Carolyn Segulja rsCarolyn Franks Segulja passed away Thursday February 23, 2017 at her home in Silver City, New Mexico after a long illness.

She was born in Silver City on November 6, 1932 to parents Randolph H. Franks and Katharine Brooks Franks.

She married Peter Segulja Jr. of Yuma, Arizona at the Church of the Good Shephard in Silver City on April 3, 1954.

Carolyn graduated from the University of Arizona with a Bachelor's degree in Art. She had a great appreciation for art and design, which was beautifully illustrated by her various homes over the years. She worked in the Deming school system as a teacher and later a school librarian.

Her great passion was her horses. She grew up doing ranch work with her father and was a good hand with a horse or cow. She rode competitively, winning an AQHA World Championship at age 50. She continued to show until age 83, qualifying for and competing at her last AQHA Championship show.

She is survived by her son, Peter Segulja III, daughter Kathi Greeman, son in law Pat Greeman, grandson and wife Jerrod Tyrell and Michelle Greeman, great grandsons Robert Patrick Greeman, Ethan Pete Greeman, and Gage Bonham Greeman. Her sister, Shirley Franks, also survives her.
Her husband Peter Segulja Jr precedes her in death.

A Memorial Service will be celebrated on Saturday, March 4 at 11 a.m. at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with Harold Bray officiating. Inurnment will take place on Tuesday, March 7 at Mountain View cemetery in Deming, NM at 11 a.m. Cremation will take place at Terrazas Crematory.
