Emily McKinney 98 a long time Grant County resident, died in El Paso, Texas, on March 7, 2017.

She was born in Evergreen, Michigan on Dec 14, 1918, as the eldest child of Leonard Guy and Electa Emma (Steere) McConkie.

She had one sister, Dorothy Anabell, and two brothers, Robert and Leonard, all deceased. She married Gerald William McKinney, (life-time resident of Grant County and deceased in 1993). They had four daughters, Elizabeth Jane Zimmerman of Denver, Colorado (deceased 2015), Dorothy Ann Thomas of San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, Geraldine Susan Feeny of El Paso, Texas, and Dianna Baltosser of Little Rock, Arkansas.

She is survived by eight grandchildren, Bryan Thomas, Kelly McCarty, Patrick McCarty, Brent Thomas, Dianna Etue, Stacy Riemer, Mark Zimmerman and Dean Zimmerman and well as 5 great-grand-children and one great-great-granddaughter.

Emily was active in the Silver City Chapter 3 Order of the Eastern Star, serving as Worthy Matron, the Grant County Copper Cowbells, the New Mexico Cattlemen's Association, and the Grant County Farm Bureau.

She was an active and joyful square dancer and loved swimming and gardening.

She is remembered by her family for her wonderful holiday dinners, seamstress skills and participation in the family ranch activities. She loved to travel and had many adventures with her husband and family members.

A Funeral Service will be held at Bright Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, March 17, 2017 at 2:00pm. Interment to follow at Masonic Cemetery.
