Carol Smith rsCarol M. Smith, 74, a resident of Silver City, NM entered eternal rest Sunday, March 12, 2017 at her residence.

She was born November 11, 1942 in Monterrey Park, CA to Ed Cryer and Marian Vandervort Cryer.

She was a longtime Boy Scout Leader, one of the first women in the higher leadership. She received Silver Beaver ribbon for excellent volunteer leadership in Western Los Angeles County Council.

She went back to school in 1995 and received her Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Santa Barbara.

Mrs. Smith was a life member of the Optimist Club of Encino-Sherman Oaks. She held Pacific Southwest District Committee positions, Optimist Club-Encino-Sherman Oaks President, and Secretary-Treasurer.

She is survived by her loving husband, Barry Smith, of the family home; two sons, Robert Edward Tomer and Richard Charles Tomer; one daughter, Joan Smith-Harrison of Los Angeles, CA; three grandchildren, Brian, Cameron, and Kyle Smith; two great-grandchildren, Teagan and Elias Smith; one step-son, Barry Patrick Smith of Chatsworth, CA; one sister, Lynn Porter of Deming, NM.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two daughters, Michelle, and Theresa Smith; one brother, Edward Cryer.

Visitation will be Tuesday, March 21 from 5 - 6 pm at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with the prayer vigil and holy rosary to begin at 6 pm with Deacon Bill Holguin reciting. The funeral liturgy will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 22 at 10 am at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church with Father Jarek officiating. Cremation will take place at Terrazas Crematory.
