Mary L. Hernandez, 84, lifelong Deming resident passed away Sunday, March 19, 2017 at her home.

Mary was born April 18, 1932 in Deming to Maria Lemus and Antonio Hernandez. She was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church where she was a member of the Altar Society and sang in the choir. She was also a member of the Hospital Auxiliary. Being the kind of person she was, Mary gave up her job so that she could stay home and care for her mother and sister. She enjoyed daily visits to the Senior Centerto accompany her niece and nephew to watch them play card games and pool. She was a very loving and caring person.

She is survived by nephews, Joe Serito Garcia and wife Teresa who was also her caregiver of Deming, Gilbert Garcia of Colorado, Angel Garcia of Deming; nieces, Martha Hernandez of Albuquerque and Dolores Martinez of Tennessee. Many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends of California, Nevada and Texas.

She was preceded in death by parents, Antonio and Maria Hernandez and sister, Esperanza Hernandez.

Visitation will begin Thursday afternoon, March 23, 2017 at 4 o'clock at Baca's Funeral Chapel where a prayer vigil will begin at 6 o'clock led by Suzanne Lundy. Mary's life will be celebrated at a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 o'clock Friday morning at Holy Family Catholic Church. Concluding services and interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery with Father Ronald Machado, Pastor officiating.
