Yolanda Lopez Chavez, 67, a resident of Bayard, NM entered eternal rest Thursday, April 6, 2017 at Providence-Sierra Medical Center in El Paso, TX.

She was born December 21, 1949 in Silver City to Joe D. Lopez and Grace Amador. She enjoyed cooking and feeding people. She was a very, very good cook. She loved music. Yolanda loved spending time with her family and friends. She worked with Wal-Mart since it first opened in Silver City, NM. She worked there for fourteen years; and had many, many friends. She was greatly loved and will be missed.

She is survived by her loving husband of 51 yrs., Alfred Chavez of the family home; three sons, Alfred L. Chavez Jr. and wife Audrey of Bayard; Joe Chavez and companion Susie of Silver City; Timothy G. Chavez and wife Lupe of El Paso, TX; one daughter, Denise L. Chavez of Bayard; thirteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Edward Lopez of San Diego, CA; two sisters, Virginia Chacon and husband Alvino of Silver City; Della Mae Lopez of San Antonio, TX; special cousin Arlene Barragan of many others and special friend, Lucy Soliz.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Grace Amador Lopez.

Visitation will be Tuesday, April 11th from 5-6pm at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with the prayer vigil and holy rosary to begin at 6pm with Deacon Richard Rodriguez reciting. The funeral liturgy will be on Wednesday, April 12th at 10am at Our Lady of Fatima Church with Father Abraham Solis officiating. Concluding service an interment will follow at the Bayard Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Pallbearers will be Joe Chavez Jr., Alfredo Paz, Tony Moreno, Jose Danny Sanchez, Chris Chacon, and Bruce Vasquez.
