Bobby J. Barker, 63, a longtime resident of Deming passed away Monday April 10, 2017 at his home.

Bobby was born January 24, 1954 in Lordsburg to O'Neil and Shirley (Tibbs) Barker. He graduated from high school in Anthony, Texas in 1971 and shortly thereafter went to work in Playas, New Mexico working on the Playas Smelter. Bobby was mainly a truck driver and over the years he worked hauling propane, fuel, and anything that the job called for. Bobby was currently employed with the Luna County Road Department.

He loved the outdoors and especially liked going fishing.

Bobby was the kind of person who never met a stranger and was always very well known and liked by all.

He is survived by his mom, Shirley I. Barker of Deming; son Justin L. Barker (Angie) of Las Vegas, Nevada; his longtime partner Linda Foster of Deming; brother Terry Barker (Jackie) of Denver, Colorado; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and cousins.

Bobby was preceded in death by his father O'Neil in 1992.

A graveside service will be Monday April 17, 2017 at 10 o'clock in the morning at Mt. View Cemetery with Rev. Darrell L. Witmer officiating. As were his wishes, cremation has taken place.
