Florence H. Jones, 93, of Silver City, NM passed away Saturday, April 22, 2017 at Fort Bayard Medical Center.

She was born in Hurley, New Mexico, on February 22, 1924, and spent her formative years in Cameron Creek, where her father took care of the pump station for Kennecott Copper Corporation.

She married Paul M. Jones on September 1, 1946, and they began raising their family in Grant County until 1957, when they moved to Hawaii, where she raised her two children Island Style while supporting her husband, who worked for Dole Pineapple on the Islands of Molokai and Oahu.

Upon her husband's retirement in 1981, they returned to Silver City.

She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.

Florence is survived by one daughter Judy, a granddaughter Tamara, and one son John Paul Jones.

She was preceded in death by her husband Paul, parents, Oscar and Cora Hickson, her brothers Gladney and James Leroy, and sister Dorothy.

A Memorial Service will be held at Bright Funeral Home Chapel at a later date. Inurnment to follow at Fort Bayard National Cemetery.

In Lieu of Flowers and Donations be made to Western New Mexico University on behalf of Margaret M. Jones Scholarship Fund.
