Arthur "Artie" R. Macias, 56, a resident of Bayard, NM entered eternal rest Sunday, May 14, 2017 at Gila Regional Medical Center.

He was born September 12, 1960 in Tucson, AZ to Juan A. Macias and Helen Rodriguez.

Art, as he was also known, was a person with the biggest, kindest heart. He was a caring and giving person, very protective of those he loved and was very loyal.

He was an avid Dallas Cowboys' fan. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing. He was quite a cook. He loved to walk to the Food Basket and loved visiting his aunts and uncle as well as his friends Adam and Alice whom he considered family. He will truly be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by two sisters Anna Diaz, and husband Antonio of Las Cruces; Linda M. Miller, and husband Martin of Deming; two nieces, Kristen Macias, Andrea Candelaria, and husband Joseph; one nephew, Juan Diaz; great nephews, Jonathan Chavez, and Joseph Candelaria Jr; great niece, Emma Candelaria and loving aunts and uncles.

Visitation will be Friday, May 19 from 11-12 at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with the holy rosary to be recited at 12 noon by Deacon David Castañon. The funeral liturgy will follow at 1 pm at Our Lady of Fatima Church with Father Abraham Soliz officiating. Concluding service an interment will follow at Fort Bayard National Cemetery with full military honors.

Pallbearers will be Joseph Candelaria, Juan Diaz, David Castañon Jr., Jonathan A. Chavez, Jonathan R. Chavez, Gilbert Silva Jr., and Adam Flores. Honorary pallbearers will be his nieces and nephews.
