Albert Galassini rsAlbert Edwin Galassini, 94, of Arenas Valley, NM passed away Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at his residence.

He was born in Koehler, NM on June 7, 1922. His mother was Sylvia Craig Galassini and his father was Joe A. Galassini.

He graduated from Raton High School where he played football. Moved to Santa Rita where he met the love of his life, Marilyn Louise Gosnell, whom he married on September 19, 1942; they were married for 52 years.

He was a Hoistman for the Kearney Shaft when he joined the Army. He served in the U.S Army November 3, 1942 and discharged with honors on January, 14, 1946. Mr. Galassini worked at Kennecott Copper/BP 1952-1984, he worked on trains and retired as pit supervisor.

Albert is survived by one daughter Barbara Barris (Roger), five grandchildren Brandi De La Torre (David), Brynda McCarthy (Art Morales), Deana Salas (Freddie), Jason Barris (Candee), Dirk Barris and fourteen great grandchildren Haley (Tyson Collard), Keeley, Braden, Raili, Missy, Maryah, Dystinee, Kayley, Cheyenne, Noelle, Maddy, Jason Jr., Bubba, Domonique, and one great great grandchild Tyley.

He was preceded in death by his father, mother, one son Kenneth Galassini, two brothers Don Galassini and Jimmy Galassini,, two sisters Lois Evelyn Hensley and Connie Sampson.

A Graveside Service will be held at Fort Bayard National Cemetery on Friday, June 9, 2017 at 1:00 p.m.

Pallbearers are Roger Barris, David De La Torre, Braden Edwin, John Galassini, Gene Galassini and Tyson Collard.
