Herman Salas Villa, 89, longtime Deming resident passed away Monday June 12, 2017 at Fort Bayard Medical Center.

Herman was born December 10, 1927 to Julia (Salas) and Luis Villa in Hillsboro. He served his country honorably in the US Army. Herman worked in the maintenance department for Luna County until his retirement. Afterward he enjoyed spending time at the Senior Center and the VFW. He was a communicant of the Catholic Church.

He is survived by daughter, Yolanda Villa of Deming; son, Herman Villa Jr.; brother, Frank Villa of CO; grandchildren, Adrian, Anthony, Miranda, Robert H., and Brianna Villa, Julian Hawley and 3 grandsons and many great-grandchildren.

Herman was preceded in death by parents, Luis and Julia Villa; daughter, Barbara Villa; son, Rosendo Villa; brothers, Alberto Torres and Jesse Villa; sisters, Estella Villa and Glorinda Montanez.

Visitation will be Wednesday June 21, 2017 at 10 o'clock in the morning at Saint Ann's Catholic Church with a rosary to follow at 10:30 led by Christine Milo. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 o'clock with concluding services and interment with honors to follow at Mountain View Cemetery. Father Manuel Ibarra will officiate.

Serving as pallbearers are Robert Villa, Robert H. Villa, Ron Villa, Katherine Huerta, Julian Hawley and Benny Porter.
