Bill Overton Brannan, 79, passed away on Sunday morning in Fort Bayard with his loving wife by his side. Mr. Brannan was born in Belen, NM on July 29, 1937 to Victor and Artie Brannan. He went to work for the AT & SF Railroad at the age of 18 and worked for the railroad until he retired at the age of 65. He lived and worked out of Hurley for many years before buying a home. He met his wife to be, Norma Mosley, at the realtor's office. They knew each other for ten days when Bill proposed and they were married six weeks later. On May 27th of this year, they celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary. They raised two children in their home, Laura Ann (Brannan) West and Billy O. Brannan, Jr., their address and phone number never changing.

Mr. Brannan was a member of the Silver City Church of Christ on Little Walnut Road. He loved to work with metals and woods in his shop and created many gifts for family and friends and would even build muzzle loader and flint lock guns. He also loved the outdoors and spent much of his life hunting and fishing or telling stories about hunting and fishing. He enjoyed the company of his only grandson and would take him, as a baby, out to sit in his boat to make him feel better when he was upset. Sean grew to love spending time with his grandpa and enjoyed learning from him with his positive attitude on life, his laugh, and his caring heart.

Mr. Brannan is survived by his loving wife Norma (Mosley) Brannan of the home, one daughter Laura Ann (Brannan) West of Albuquerque, one son Billy O. Brannan of Hurley, his grandson Sean Anthony Moreno (and Koddi) of Roswell, his sisters, Sunny Ramel (and Jack) of Belen and Brenda Jo of Albuquerque. Surviving brothers-in-law are Richard Rogers of Bayard and Don Mosley (and Sharon) of Lincoln City, OR and sister-in-law Nellie Mosley or Texarkana, AR. Surviving nieces and nephews include Aaron Rogers of Bayard, Brian Mosley (and Heather) of Albuquerque, Rhonda (Rogers) Wheeler (and Cory) of Fairview, MT, Martha (Mosley) Marx of Fort Walton Beach, FL, Michelle (Mosley) Bailey (and Lathem) of Virginia Beach, VA, and Liesje (Mosley) Gebler (and Richard) of Rio Rancho. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister-in-law Thelma (Mosley) Rogers and brother-in-law Robert (Bobby) Mosley.

Friends and family are invited to come celebrate Bill's life at Bear Canyon Lake on July 1, 2017 at 1:30 P.M. Look for the big canopies and please bring a picnic food and a chair. Cold drinks will be provided. If possible, wear Bill's favorite color pattern, blue plaid.
