Chuck Dinwiddie rsHarold Rhea "Chuck" Dinwiddie, age 78, passed away at his residence on Tuesday, June 20, 2017.

He was born on September 11, 1938 in Silver City NM to the proud parents of Margery Bright and Richard O Dinwiddie. He passed away peacefully in his own bed in his home in Cliff with his family by his side.

Chuck was raised in Cliff NM and its surrounding areas, including the beautiful Gila Wilderness that he referred to as his back yard. He graduated from Cliff High School in 1956 after playing multiple basketball seasons as a Cliff Cowboy. Chuck had the pleasure of growing up around much of his extended family in the area including cousins, aunts, uncles, siblings, and grandparents. and families, rarely leading to a boring moment growing up.

During the summers of high school years and immediately after, Chuck went to work for the forest services. This is when his love and admiration of the area that he was born and raised in grew tremendously. We have all heard countless stories about his times in the mountain and he often described this time as the happiest time of is life.

Chuck received his bachelor's and master's in Education from Western New Mexico University.

During his time in Reserve Chuck was fortunate enough to meet his life partner, Kathrin Perez. They married in 1976 and welcomed their first born son, Hollis James, into their lives. After only a few more years they again moved back to dad's home town of Cliff. That same year they welcomed their daughter DesiRhea Spurr.

Chuck has worn many hats in his life and while in Cliff for the last 35 years he dedicated his life to this community and his family. He not only was a father and a business man but was also the Principal of Cliff Schools.

He continued to run cattle on his ranch, much more so for the pleasure of doing what he did and less so for the actual meat production. Chuck truly believed that there is no place like home.

Chuck is survived by his son Hollis Dinwiddie, his daughter DesiRhea Spurr, son-in-law Chris Spurr, and granddaughter Presley Spurr.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 37 years Kathrin.
