Jessie Jones rsJessie Lee Jones, 97, of Silver City peacefully left this world for eternal life in the early morning hours Monday June 26, 2017 just short of her 98th birthday.

She was born in June 1919 in Roswell, NM to Annie Lea and Reuben E. Cunningham.

Jessie was born and raised in New Mexico. After her marriage to Bud she lived in several places over the years. Judy was born in California, Linda in Texas, and Debra in New Mexico. In 1948 Jessie and Bud returned to New Mexico and settled down in Silver City to raise their family.

Jessie was an employee for many years for Food Mart, and Piggly Wiggly she always had a kind word and ready smile for everyone. Following her retirement she was active in her Church at First Baptist overseeing the weekly fellowship meals. She liked to travel, enjoyed her friends, loved her family and was always there for you.

She is survived by three daughters: Judy Filleman and husband Jim of Safford, AZ; Linda Walker of Lordsburg, NM; Debra French and husband Bill, of Silver City, NM; six Grandchildren: Christie, Michael, Bill, Tanya, Crystal, and Daniel; and fifteen Great Grandchildren: Jarad, Colter, Rylee, Shawn, Cassidy, Andrew, Bailey, Addie, Gary, Wyatt, Kayla, Alyssa, Logan, Emarie, and baby Jeremiah who is due in three weeks!

She was preceded in death by her husband, Marcus "Bud" Jones in 1984, and also by her four sisters, Ruth, Marian, Bess, and Doris.

A Visitation will begin at 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Bright Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, July 1, 2017. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, July 1, 2017 at Bright Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00 am with Pastor Tony Egan officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Lane Cemetery.
