Frederick (Fred) Thomas, Jr., 88, of Mimbres, entered eternal rest at the VA Hospital in San Diego, CA on July 8, 2017.

Born to Frederick J. Thomas, Sr. and Agnes Benedict Thomas in Santa Rita on November 9, 1928.

Fred was a proud Marine Corps WWII veteran, a loving father, a devoted husband to Ann, and a good friend to many. He had a tender heart, a sweet smile, and deep faith.

He is survived by his brother Randy Rustin of Albuquerque; daughter Renee Robinson Sievert and her husband Seymour of San Diego; son Tracy Thomas and his wife Robin and grandson Fred Thomas IV of Mimbres; sister-in-law Debbie Brigadier; nieces Colleen & Chrissy (Johnson), Dawn & Cheryl (Rustin), and grand nieces and nephews. Lillian Medina of Bayard, NM is also considered a beloved family member.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Ann (Johnson) Thomas and his nephew James Rustin.

Special thanks to Ivy Sharilin Rogers for her caretaking of Fred in his Mimbres home. Her family became extended family to Fred, which continues to be appreciated.

Two services will be held on Thursday, July 13 at 5:00 pm at the Mimbres LDS church, where he was a member.

Visitation will be Friday July 14 from 12 - 1pm at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with the funeral service to commence at 1 pm with Dr. Gilbert Arizaga officiating. Concluding service an interment will follow at Fort Bayard National Cemetery with full military honors. Pallbearers will be Fred Thomas IV, Seymour Sievert, Lester Rogers and Fred Barraza. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the High Desert Humane Society and Animal Shelter, 3050 S. Cougar Way, Silver City, NM 88061.
