dorsey smith rsdorsey smith 3 rsDorsey "Dick" Richard Smith 85, of Silver City, New Mexico went to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at his home surrounded by family. A Memorial Service will be held at Bright Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, July 9, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. A Private Burial will be held at a later date.

He was born in Breezewood, Pennsylvania on a farm Dec. 1931, the son of the late Dorsey W. Smith and Katherine B. Foor.

Dorsey graduated from Everett High School where he played football. After High School, he spent four years in the Air Force and then was in the Army National Guard. He left with an honorable discharge.

In 1963, he joined the Pennsylvania Game Commission, in 1975 he married wife Kathy. During that time, he was a football official and certified Ski Instructor.

In 1988, he retired and moved to Silver City, NM.

He was involed in the Southwest Horseman's Association. He always loved his job as a Game Warden and spent a lot of time hunting and being outdoors.

He attended First Baptist Church.

Survivors are his wife Kathy of 43 years, his loyal buddies KD and Tide, one son Michael Richard Smith and one granddaughter Amanda Smith, two sisters Barbara McClain (Blair) Carlisle, PA and Virginia LeVan (Geary) Everett, PA. He had many outstanding nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one son Jeffrey Lee Smith and one sister Louise Gump.
