Simon C. Villanueva, 75, of Hurley, passed away early morning on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family after fighting a long hard battle with cancer.

Simon was born on October 28, 1942 in La Paz, San Luis Poto Si, Mexico to Casiano and Maria Cortez Villanueva. Simon was well known in the community as a very loving and caring man, all who knew him, knew that his family was his pride and joy. Simon had worked for UV Industries for many years and had also worked for and retired after 20 years of service with The Town of Silver City. Simon enjoyed his morning cup of coffee and listening to his favorite Spanish music. One of his biggest joys was to go to Deming every Saturday to the flea market and visiting with everyone he could. Simon will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Emma Dominguez Villanueva, one son, Raul Villanueva and wife Stacey; daughter, Lupe Ochoa and husband Rogelio;a son, Simon Villanueva Jr.; four brothers, Ricardo and wife Irene, Pedro, Marcy Villanueva and wife Viola all of Las Vegas, NV, Armando Villanueva and wife Margarita of Amarillo, TX; two sisters, Isabel Villanueva and husband Jose, Alice Villanueva and husband Steve both of Borger, TX. Also surviving Simon are seven grandchildren, Celeste, Kanisha, Sarah, Emmanie, Alexys, Raul Jr., and Aaden Villanueva; four great-grandchildren, Aaliyah and Zayliana Carbajal, Hunter Villanueva and Keilani Barragan; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Casiano and Maria; two brothers, Jose and Roberto, a sister, Juana Villanueva and a nephew Jose Villanueva Jr.

Cremation has been entrusted to Baca's Funeral Chapels. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, July 14, 2017 at two o'clock in the afternoon at Baca's Funeral Chapels. Officiating will be Jimmy Lopez.
