lola valverde rsDolores "Lola" Valverde, 76, lifelong Deming resident passed away Monday July 17, 2017 at Memorial Medical Center in Las Cruces.

"Lola", as she was affectionately known, was born September 7, 1940 to Maria Alderete and Eusebio Montaño in Deming.

She retired from Deming Public Schools after 29 years of service. She worked in many different departments, but, was most fond of the bilingual program.

Lola was a devoted member of the Catholic Church, Apostolado, Good News Prayer Group and Women's Aglow.

She enjoyed cooking, crossword puzzles, shopping and reading. She will be remembered for her hospitality, serving her community and the love for her family.

Lola is survived by her husband, Albert Valverde of the home; son, Alberto Eusebio Valverde of Deming; 2 daughters, Lisa Michelle Ochoa and husband Gabriel of Las Cruces and Marnie Green and husband Corey of Orlando, FL; 2 brothers, Victor Montaño and wife Marcie of Deming and Ralph Montaño of Las Cruces; 2 sisters, Luisa Quarrell of Santa Clara and Annie Camuñez and husband Freddie of Livermore, CA; 7 grandchildren, Gloria Valverde, Tricia Ochoa, Amanda Ochoa, Gabriel Julian Ochoa, Christian Green (Liz), Allana and Jacob Green and 2 great-grandchildren, Zeke and Bianca.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Eusebio and Maria Montaño, and brothers, Manny, Tony and Danny Montaño.

Visitation will begin Saturday morning, July 22, 2017 at 9:30 at Saint Ann's Catholic Church where a prayer vigil will follow at 10 o'clock led by Ralph Montaño. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 with Fr. Manuel Ibarra, Pastor, officiating. Music will be led by Matthew Seltzer and Victor Cabrera. Concluding services and interment will follow at Mt. View Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Gabriel Julian Ochoa, David, David Angel and Ruben Montano, Eddie Lee Holguin and Adrian Sanchez. Honorary pallbearers named are Christian, Jacob and Corey Green and Gabriel Ochoa.
