raymundo esquivias rsRaymundo A. Esquivias, 81, longtime Deming resident passed away Saturday July 29, 2017 at Memorial Medical Center in Las Cruces.

Visitation will be Friday August 4, 2017 at 9 o'clock in the morning at Saint Ann's Catholic Church with a rosary to follow at 10 o'clock led by Eddie & Guillermina Diaz. Mass of the Christian Burial will begin at 11 o'clock in the morning at Saint Ann's Catholic Church. Concluding services and interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. Father Manuel Ibarra will officiate.

Raymundo was born March 15, 1936 to Maria Alvillar and Enrique Esquivias in Palomas, Chihuahua, Mexico. He married the love of his life, Esther A. Canaba on July 6, 1968 in Tipton, California. He worked on the drilling rigs in the uranium exploration in Northern New Mexico during the 1960's and 1970's and moved to Deming in 1971. Raymundo worked for Southern Pacific Railroad and retired after 30 years in 2001. He was a member of Saint Ann's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, St. Ann's Men's Club and Cursillistas.

He enjoyed cutting hair, long walks, and daily visits to the Senior Center. He also bartended at the Knights of Columbus. He loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Raymundo is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Esther of the home; son, Hugo C. Esquivias of Santa Fe; brother, Enrique Esquivias of Mesa, AZ; sister, Maria Elena Montes and husband Salvador of Deming; 3 grandchildren, Belicia, Diego and Domingo Esquivias; 1 great-grandchild, Aria Kay Esquivias; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Enrique and Maria Esquivias, son, Raymundo C. Esquivias and sister, Elvira Hernandez.

Serving as pallbearers will be Diego Esquivias, Jesus Montes, Salvador "Chava" Montes, Johnny Herrera, Antonio and Tony Canaba. Honorary pallbearers named are Belicia and Domingo Esquivias.
