With great sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Rosa L. Macenez, 97, of Bayard on Sunday, September 10, 2017. She was surrounded by family at the Silver City Care Center. We would like to thank everyone who treated her with compassion in her care, which at times, went beyond expectations. It will always be appreciated.
Rosa was born on December 23, 1919 to Ventura and Josefina Lemus in Jerome, Arizona. Rosa was a devout Catholic and her faith never wavered, even at the worst times in her illness. She looked forward to meeting the Lord and seeing her "golden child", Louie. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them when they would come to visit. She seemed to forget the pain and would "perk up". Rosa will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Rosa is survived by her sons, Freddy and Bobby Castillo, Joey Macenez; daughters, Josie Mackessy and Margaret Moyer; 22 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 20 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son Louie Castillo and husband Jose Macenez.
Cremation has been entrusted to Baca's Funeral Chapels. A Funeral Mass will take place on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at ten o'clock in the morning at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Bayard. Officiating will be Father Abraham Solis. Serving as a pallbearer will be Rosa's grandson, David Duran.
