Cruz Duran Ochoa, 90, passed away peacefully accompanied by his children Tuesday October 24, 2017 at Mountain View Regional Medical Center in Las Cruces.

Cruz was born January 23, 1927 to Paula Ochoa and Cruz Duran in Ascencion, Chihuahua, Mexico. He moved to Columbus in 1992 coming from Mexico. He worked as a laborer in the agriculture industry and was a communicant of the Catholic Church. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Cruz will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his sons, Hector Duran of Columbus, Victor Alonso Duran of Mexico, Jaime Duran of Las Cruces; daughters, Luz Alicia Sanchez of Columbus, Etelvina Au of Las Cruces; 14 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will begin Friday afternoon, October 27 at 3 o'clock at the Holy Family Catholic Mission in Columbus where a prayer vigil will begin at 5 that evening. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday morning at 11 o'clock at the Holy Family Catholic Mission with Fr. Ron Machado officiating. Concluding services and interment will follow at Valley Heights Catholic Cemetery.
