bill burns rsBill Burns Sr., 88, of Silver City, NM, entered eternal rest surrounded by family and loved ones on October 23, 2017.

He was born on June 27, 1929 in Dalhart, Texas to Myrtle and William Burns. He grew up in New Hope, Corbin, and Gorman, Texas where he cumulatively completed 6 years of schooling. He was a well-known prankster, who would ride tractors to "plow peanuts" and purchased his first car with only pennies.

On June 14, 1947 he married Mary Lou Harbor. Bill and Lou enjoyed traveling together and resided in Abilene, Texas and Albuquerque, New Mexico, before moving to Silver City in 1968. It was at this time Bill purchased a Toms Company distributorship. Together Bill and Lou had 3 children, who Bill supported as a Toms Distributor from 1968 to 1985.

Bill was a family oriented man, who loved fishing, camping, riding 4 wheelers, and teaching his grandkids about the outdoors.

He enjoyed watching Bonanza, Walker Texas Ranger, WWE wrestling, racing go-carts, and cheering for the Dallas Cowboys. He was outgoing, ambitious, and held many friendships. His passion for people was exemplified by his leadership in the Optimist Club, activity as "Peanuts" (CB Handle) for Grant County Search & Rescue, Elks Lodge #413 membership, and Wagon Master position in the Traveling Elks Club.

He is survived by his beloved wife, of 70 years, Mary Lou; daughters Pamela (Jack) McCants and Sandra Jones; son Bill Jr. (Dawn) Burns; 6 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, 2 siblings, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, 4 siblings, Son-In-Law Dennis Jones, and his granddaughter Tammie Jones.

In keeping with the wishes of Bill Burns there will be no funeral services.
