priscilla gomez rsPriscilla Jacquez Gomez, 77, a resident of Silver City, NM entered eternal rest on Monday, December 11, 2017 at Gila Regional Medical Center.

She was born January 26, 1940 in Silver City, NM to Santiago and Maria Ortega Jacquez.

Our mother was a very strong individual who worked hard all of her life. Priscilla Gomez had a passion for cooking. Many of you would likely remember her delicious food, as she cooked for many, from preschoolers to senior citizens, and catering for many celebrations.

Priscilla was truly the matriarch of our entire family. She was given the nickname 'The Rock' By her brothers, as she was the solid foundation for us all. Because the Jacquez family of 15 lost their mother at a very young age, Priscilla stepped in, assuming great responsibility, and did for her siblings all she could. She carried such great love for them all. They are a true example of a family united.

We, Priscilla's children, are honored and blessed to be part of her lineage. Blessed by what we gained from her life's example - We put God first, family second, and help those in need. Then, of course, comes good music, lots of dancing and many laughs.

From her grandchildren: I am the youngest grandchild of my grandmother's grandchildren, I am Priscilla Jr. and I carry her name with honor. Her legacy will live through us grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. Our grandmother had a part of raising each of us. She loved each and every one of us equally, loving each and every one of us with her whole heart. She would truly light up when she saw any of us walk through her door. She fought for us all in one way or another.

Grandma taught us a lot, she taught us love and perseverance. She taught us how to have strength through the toughest times. She was always happy, and never did she let us see her low-spirited. She would whisper to me so my dad wouldn't hear, "come on let's go out, let's go dancing". That's the grandmother I will never forget, the grandmother who was often responsible for bringing the whole family together. The grandmother who would spend hours cooking and preparing for any company. No one was a stranger and everyone was welcome. Her blood, wisdom, and love runs deep in our veins and we will pass it on to our children and children to come. "There was magic in grandmother's touch, and sunshine in her smile. There was love in everything she did to make our lives worthwhile."

She is survived by two sons, Tommy Gomez (Catherine) of Tyrone; Emilio Gomez (Melissa) of Silver City; one daughter, Margie Gomez of Silver City; sixteen grandchildren; thirty-seven great grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Armando Jacquez (Norma) of Silver City; Rudy Jacquez of Silver City; Fidel Jacquez (Dori) of Las Vegas; four sisters, Lupe Barragan of Silver City; Mariana Ortiz (Pete) of Silver City; Alicia Carrasco of Silver City; Delia Garcia of Silver City.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, Manuel Gomez (2003), one son, Enriquez "Moto" Gomez, one daughter, Nancy Gomez; four brothers, Tony, Jimmy, Bobby, and Rolando Jacquez; three sisters, Molly Altamirano, Rachael Montes, and Rita Provencio; two grandsons, Thomas Sanchez (honorable son #1), and Tommy Gomez; one granddaughter, Christy Ann Lopez.
