Jesus "Jesse" S. Atencio, 79, a resident of Santa Clara, NM entered eternal rest Monday, January 29, 2018 at his residence.

He was born June 24, 1938 in Santa Clara, NM to Salvador H. Atencio and Paula A. Leyba.

He is survived by four sons, Jesse Atencio Jr. and wife Lee Ann of Fairbanks, Alaska; Michael Atencio of Santa Clara; Gregory Atencio of Mimbres; Robert "Robbie" Hatcher (Kathy) and their children Jacob and Abby of Albuquerque; one daughter, Peggy Sockwell (Kevin) and their children James, Brody, and Tata of Lexington, AL; three brothers, Henry Atencio of Silver City; Lawrence Atencio of Santa Clara; Patricio Atencio of Tucson, AZ.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife, Joan Atencio; one son, Joseph Atencio.

Visitation will be Monday, February 5 from 5-6 p.m. at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with Deacon Richard Rodriguez reciting the holy rosary at 6 p.m. The funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 6 at 10am at Santa Clara Catholic Church with Father Robert Becerra officiating.

Pallbearers will be Jesse Atencio, Gabriel Atencio, Michael Atencio, Gregory Atencio, Ezra Atencio, and Robert Davidson. Cremation will take place at Terrazas Crematory.
