sal lazos rsSALVADOR TALAMANTES LAZOS, 86. A longtime resident of Lordsburg passed away Easter Sunday, April 1, 2018 in Lordsburg.

Sal was born October 11, 1931 in Santa Maria del Oro, Durango, Mexico to Pomposo and Verena (Talamantes) Lazos. He came to Lordsburg in 1960 from Socorro, New Mexico where he had been working in the mining industry. Sal married Frances Alvarez in 1962 and they remained in Lordsburg where they raised their family. Sal continued to work at the local mines, in construction, and also worked with the City of Lordsburg for some time. Being a skilled woodworker, he spent a lot of time in his shop where he made special items as well as making cabinets for many homes in the area. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church.

Sal is survived by his wife Frances A. Lazos of Lordsburg; children, Terry Martinez (Joseph) of Tucson, AZ, Salvador A. Lazos (Julie) of Dallas, TX, and Danny Lazos (Audrey) of Las Cruces; 2 sisters, Francisca Lazos and Dolores Lopez (Emilio) all of El Paso; his grandchildren he loved very much are Candace Davis, Stephanie Yanez, Linda Martinez, Damon Martinez, Raymond Lazos, Daniel Lazos, Cierra Lazos, Matthew Lerman, Ashley Lazos, Jacob Lazos, Tara Uwakwe, and Shanna Clark; great grandchildren are Braylon Davis, Noah Yanez, Kellen Davis, Luis Yanez, Frankie Barron, Molly Holguin, Avalee Lazos, Isla Lazos, Jeremiah Lazos, Rae Riley Laughlin, Jaxon Sprinkle, Landyn Uwakwe, and Allison Clark.

Visitation will be Friday morning, April 6, 2018 at 10 o'clock at St. Joseph's Catholic Church where a prayer vigil will begin at 10:30. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 o'clock with Fr. Jude Okonkwo, Pastor officiating. Cremation will take place and inurnment will be Saturday at 12:30 at Shakespeare Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Damon Martinez, Raymond Lazos, Daniel Lazos, Matthew Lerman, Jacob Lazos, Ernesto Lazos Jr., Elias Lopez, and Anthony Martinez. Honorary bearers are Manny Rendon, Joseph Martinez, Raymie Alvarez, Jaime Alvarez, Michael Alvarez, Gabriel Alvarez, Ramon Barraza, Ricardo Yanez, Alan Davis, Juan Lopez, Matthew Lerman, Louie Lazos, Angel Lopez Jr., Raymond Diaz and Salvador P. Alvarez.
