eloy medina rsEloy G. Medina Sr., 73, of Bayard passed away on Friday, April 20, 2018 at his residence surrounded by his family.

Eloy was born on May 26, 1944 in Santa Rita to Soledad Medina. He had served his country in the United States Army and from there worked as a dozer operator with Kennecott Copper Mines until his retirement after 32 years of service. His wife, Connie of 49 years was the love of his life and together they built their home and raised their family. Eloy served his community as a volunteer at the Bayard Fire Department for 25 years. He loved the outdoors, camping and hunting but he was especially fond of his grandchildren, who were his pride and joy. Eloy was an amazing husband, father and grandfather and he treated everyone as one of his own. He was a parishioner of the Roman Catholic Church. Eloy will be missed by everyone who knew and loved him.

Eloy is survived by his wife Connie; son, Eloy Medina Jr. (Kimberly); brothers, Steve Medina (Mariam), Pancho Medina (Charlotte); sisters, Mary Montes (Willie), Annie Medina, Helen Medina Morris (Ron) and Lillian Medina; grandchildren, Andrea Amador (Andrew), Eloy Medina III (Dayna), Nikko Medina, Alicia Barragan, Reagen Barragan, Rashel Barragran; great-granddaughter, Ezmi Amador; and lastly, his two beloved pet dogs, Toby and Ziggy.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Soledad Medina; brothers, Lorenzo Medina, Meme Medina, Bobby Medina, Michael Hernandez; sister, Darlene Madrid; grandson, Estevan Miguel Medina and comprade, Rudy Alvarado.

Visitation for Eloy will be from 5 to 6 pm on Sunday, April 22, 2018 at Baca's Funeral Chapel with the recitation of the Holy Rosary to follow at 6 pm. Officiating will be Deacon Art Gutierrez. The Funeral Liturgy will be on Monday, April 23, 2018 at 10:00 in the morning at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Bayard. Concluding services and burial will follow at the Hanover Cemetery. Officiating will be Father Abraham Solis.

Serving as pallbearers will be Eloy Medina III, Nikko Medina, Bruce Carbajal, Jeff Carbajal, Eric Bonilla, Reagen Barragan, Andrea Amador and Joshua Alvarado. Honorary pallbears are Ezmi Rae Amador, Andrew Amador, Dayna Medina, Mateo Madrid, Montana Madrid, Euphemio Gonzales and all his God children.
