charlene chandler rsCharlene Chandler, 83, of Silver City, NM went to be with her Lord and Savior surrounded by her family and friends at the home of her daughter, Cindy Chandler-Maxwell and companion Dr. John Rogers.

Charlene was born November 7, 1934 in Saffell, AR, to Elmer and Dessie West. The family moved to Cloudcroft, NM in the early 1940's and then to Central (Santa Clara) NM during her teenage years.

At 17 yrs. old she married the love of her life RL Chandler. They built their home in Central, where they raised their two children.

Charlene was very active in her home church, Central Baptist, where she was the pianst, Womens Bible Class teacher and VBS teacher.

She enjoyed gardening and making floral arrangements for every occasion, picnics, sewing, and spending time with family and neighbors. She was known for her "Red Velvet Cake."

Her greatest wish was to once again visit her hometown Cloudcroft, NM. In November of 2017 for her 83rd birthday, her daughter Cindy and companion John fulfilled that wish. She spoke often about it up until her last few days of life. She will be greatly missed by all her family, many friends, and her special dog, "Annie".

She is survived by her son, Rodney Chandler and wife Dixie of Mule Creek, NM; her daughter, Cindy Chandler-Maxwell and companion Dr. John Rogers of Silver City, NM; her grandchildren, Becky McCleery (Will), Jason Chandler (Jamee), James Chandler (Yakeima), Gabriel Maxwell, and Michael Maxwell (Adriana); great-grandchildren, Malachi, Collin, and Shaelyn McCleery, Josh and Kate Chandler, Jordan and Tierzah Chandler, and Kiera and Kendall Maxwell and many wonderful nieces and nephews.

Her legacy was that she was known as "THE MIRACLE LADY" by all who cared for her in the medical field. Rest in Peace Mama.

Visitation will be Thursday, April 26 from 6-7 p.m. at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with the funeral service to begin at 7 p.m. with her son Pastor Rod Chandler officiating. The interment will be Friday, April 27 at 11 a.m. at Fort Bayard National Cemetery where she will be laid to rest by her husband.

Pallbearers will be Jason and James Chandler, Gabriel and Michael Maxwell, Will, Malachi, and Collin McCleery, and Jordan Chandler.
