tony sierra rsAntonio "Tony" P. Sierra, 62, a resident of Silver City, NM entered eternal rest Sunday, June 10, 2018 at Memorial Hospital in Las Cruces, NM.

He was born April 19, 1956 in Silver City to Apolonio and Irene Peña Sierra and was a lifelong resident of Silver City.

He worked for Chino Mines for 28 years. Tony was a strong Union organizer.

He was a car salesman for both Scott Nichols and Ridgewood Motors. He then worked as a manager for local finance companies.

Tony was a hardworking person. He was honest and straight forward. He had a big heart and was always willing to help others.

Tony enjoyed spending his time with his family and his dog "Chiquita". He loved to joke around and make people laugh, also enjoyed listening to music, dancing, and traveling; especially while accompanied by special friends.

He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Sylvia Portillo of the family home; one son, Kevin M. Sierra of Silver City; one daughter, Katrina V. Sierra of Silver City; four grandchildren, Kyren C. Sierra, Kayla R. Sierra, Kahlia Kelley, and Timothy Brown; five brothers, Robert "Bobby" P. Sierra and wife Dora of Silver City; Richard P. Sierra and wife Toni of Las Cruces; Eugene P. Sierra of Albuquerque; Earl Sierra and wife Susie of Tucson, AZ; Phillip Sierra and wife Gloria of Tucson, AZ; one sister, Rebecca Sierra of Denver, CO.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Apolonio "Polo" Sierra; one sister, Veronica Duarte.

Visitation will be Thursday, June 14 from 5-6 p.m. at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with the holy rosary to begin at 6 p.m. with Deacon Bill Holguin reciting. The funeral liturgy will be Friday, June 15 at 1 p.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church with Father Oliver Obele officiating. Concluding service and interment will follow at St.Vincent Catholic cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Rudy Sepulveda Jr., Anthony Steyskal, James Sierra, Albert Parra Jr., Ruben Portillo Jr., and Erik Valdez. Honorary pallbearer will be Jesus Candelaria Jr.
