Manuel Oscar Chavez Jr., 37, passed away Monday June 18, 2018 at Mimbres Memorial Hospital.

Manuel was born March 14, 1981 in Deming to Manuel Oscar Chavez and Anna Sainz. He graduated from Deming High School and furthered his education at Western New Mexico University and also New Mexico State University. Manuel studied business management and several trade occupations. He was an electrician and was also skilled in carpentry, and heating and cooling. He enjoyed being in the outdoors.

Manuel is survived by his father, Manuel Oscar Chavez Sr. of Deming; his mother Anna Chavez of Deming; his daughters, Jazmine A. Chavez and Brittany V. Chavez of Deming; his sister Vanessa Chavez-Corken (Steve) of Deming; grandparents, Hortencia Noll and Amparo Rivera of Deming; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Pallbearers will be Manuel O. Chavez Sr., Ricardo Rivera, Gilberto Rivera, Rudolfo Rivera, Apolonio Altamirano, and Ramon Romero. Honorary bearer is Pepe Montoya.

Visitation will be Monday June 25, 2018 from 4 to 6 at Baca's Funeral Chapel where a prayer service will begin at 6 o'clock. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday morning at 10 at St. Ann Catholic Church with Fr. Manuel F. Ibarra, Pastor officiating. Concluding services and interment will follow at Mt. View Cemetery.
