perez Luis Pérez, 90, of Silver City, NM, passed in peace on Tuesday, August 7, 2018, in Silver City, NM.

Funeral services will be held at The First United Methodist Church on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Michael Brunk officiating.

Luis was born in Chihuahua City, Chihuahua, Mexico to Nicolas and Teresa Perez on December 5, 1927. He attended the public schools in El Paso, TX. He married Janice M Perez on June 29, 1961 in El Paso, TX. He graduated from the University of Texas at El Paso with a Bachelor in Journalism, the University of Missouri at Columbia with a Masters of Magazine Production and the New York Institute of Photography. He was a veteran of the Korean War and served in the Army at Fort Bliss as an Artillery Lieutenant. He was involved in The Optimist Club, The American Legion, The Westerners and the Methodist Men of First United Methodist Church Silver City. He competed and was a National Target Shooting Champion while in college. His life passions included family/friends, cooking/eating, history and target shooting.

Luis is preceded in death by his daughter Yvonne Olivia Perez, his parents Nicolas and Teresa Perez, his brother Nicolas Perez and his sisters Soledad P Newman, Teresa P Surguy and Esperanza Elizondo.

Luis is survived by his wife of 57 years Janice M Perez of Silver City, NM, daughter Teresa M Perez of Houston, TX, son Alan Perez of El Paso, TX, brother Porfirio and wife Margaret Perez of Silver City, NM, and many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Herb Trejo, Christopher Martin, Shawn Reid, Ron Hall, Curtis Shimp andMyke Brussel.

Memorials may be given to the Methodist Men of First United Methodist Church Silver City.
