sierra 02Juana M. Sierra, 93, a resident of Hanover, NM entered eternal rest Saturday, December 8, 2018 at her residence surrounded by her family. She was born May 6, 1925 in Fierro, NM to Julian and Anicasia Mani Moreno. She was the youngest of six; two brothers and three sisters. She married Jose P. Sierra in 1953. She lived and stood through the “Empire Strike”. She was a spiritual healer, used herbs and prayer, a gift she learned from her mother. She loved being outside either tending to her garden, picking piñon, chopping wood or fishing.She is survived by two sons, Jose M. Sierra and companion Rose Marie Quevedo of Hurley; Julian M. Sierra and wife Maria Rosie; one daughter, Linda J. Luna of Hanover; eleven grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jose P. Sierra; two brothers, Melquiades and Lorenzo Moreno; three sisters, Dolores Garcia, Ignacia Chavez, and Elvira Chacon; one grandson, Daniel Luna. Visitation will be Thursday, December 13 from 5-6 p.m. at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with the holy rosary being recited by Deacon Art Gutierrez to begin at 6pm. The funeral liturgy will be celebrated on Friday, December 14 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Church with Father Mike Williams officiating. Concluding service and interment will follow at Fierro Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Joe Anthony Sierra, Jason Sierra, Adrian Sierra, Angela Gillies, Jacklyn Sierra, Javier Muniz, and Julian D. Sierra. Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Maldonado, Andy Chavez, Johnny and Adam Sierra, Gaspar and Alex Moreno, Manuel Morales, Raymond Chacon, and Jr. Rodriguez.  Arrangements are with Terrazas Funeral Chapels “Trusted care for the ones you love” ~ 575-537-0777.
