carrasco 03Sarah Polanco Carrasco, 73, a resident of Silver City, NM entered eternal rest Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at Wilcox, AZ. She was born April 20,1945 in Silver City, NM to Feliciano S. Polanco and Elvira Mendoza Polanco. Sarah married her true love Robert in August of 1967 (51 years) and together they raised their children in Silver City, NM. Sarah was employed by the Silver School District in 1980 as a Teacher’s Assistant. She started her career in the Bilingual Department then moved to Special Education where she retired in 2005. Sarah was always on the go; with her hair in place, well dressed clothes and matching accessories. She was off to visit relatives and friends without ever forgetting to stop by the Casino which was one of her favorite things to do. Sarah was well known for her cooking and baking; her specialties were Galletas, Biscochitos and her miracle healing Atole. She also loved to crochet, read, and watch her children and grandchildren play sports. Most important, Sarah was a strong independent woman who lived by her faith. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, relative and friend. A true servant of God. She always put others before herself by lending a helping hand to those in need without expecting anything in return. She lived her life to the fullest and will be truly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her loving husband Robert O. Carrasco of the family home; five sons, Robert Carrasco Jr., Gilbert Carrasco (Debra), Felix Dean Carrasco, Dennis Ray Carrasco, and Eric Carrasco (Emily); one daughter, Monica Carrasco and fiancé Ray Reyes; fifteen grandchildren, Michael, Daniel, Maria, Tonya, Robert, Kennith, Dion, Arailiana, Gabby, Adriana, Javier, Nathan, Jaxon, Analeya, and Santiago; nine great-grandchildren; two brother in-laws, Alfredo Hurtado of Tucson, AZ, and Robert Alvarado of Bayard, NM. She was preceded in death by her parents, Feliciano S. (’79) and Elvira M. Polanco (2013); two sons, Roger P. Carrasco (2008) and Kennith J. Carrasco (1982); two sisters, Mary Sylvia “Choonkie” Hurtado (2013); Rosalina “Dodie” Alvarado (2013). Visitation will be Monday, April 15 from 5-6pm at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with the holy rosary being recited by Dr. Gilbert Arizaga beginning at 6pm. The funeral liturgy will be Tuesday, April 16 at 10am at St. Francis Newman Center with Father Ezenwelem Bartholomew officiating.  Concluding service and interment will follow at Gila cemetery.
