henry morales copy 2Henry V. Morales, 70, of Lordsburg formerly of Silver City, passed away Monday, October14, 2019 at Gila Regional Medical Center.

Henry was born June 8, 1949 in Silver City to Luis Sr. and Sara (Vasquez) Morales. Henry had served his country honorably during the Vietnam Conflict in the United States Army. He had worked and retired for Kennecott and Phelps Dodge Copper Mines. Henry loved all sports and dedicated his life to the youth of his community and his children. He coached for Silver City little league and was the founder of The Grant County Youth Basketball League. Henry was a Copper Country Senior Olympian and was the Grant County Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year in 1987. He was also was the Head Softball Coach at Silver High School and Cobre High School during the 1990s.

Visitation will be from 5 to 6 pm on Thursday, October 17, 2019 at Harvest Fellowship Church, 1500 N. Hudson. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will follow at 6 pm. Cremation will be entrusted to Baca’s Funeral Chapels. The Funeral Service for Henry will be at 12:30 on Friday, October 18, 2019 at Harvest Church. Concluding Service and Inurnment of Henry’s cremated remains will follow at Fort Bayard National Cemetery with full military honors. Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons Eric Morales Jr., Roderick Quintana, Dennis Quintana, Jacob, Morales, Ezekial Morales, Tre Arambula, Aaron Jacquez, and Caesar Jacquez. Honorary pallbearers will be Gilbert Ortiz, Gilbert Garcia, Juan Verdugo Jr, Benji Talavera, Jason Jacquez, Felix Ortega, Tony Trujillo, Mark Sotelo, Morning Star Governors, Rep. Rudy Martinez, Henry Lara, Copper Country Senior Olympians, Vietnam Vets Chapter 1, Jerry Garcia and Dolores Contreras.

Henry is survived by his wife Connie Morales; sons, Lieutenant Governor Howie Morales, Marvin Morales(Marisela), Eric Morales, Norman Castrillo (Marisa), and Davey Arambula; daughters, Michelle Morales Silvas (Johnny), Doreena Arambula, and Naya Watson; brothers, Ben “Benti” Martinez, Arnold (Pat) Valdez, Manuel “Meme” (Margie) Martinez, Luis “Bobo” (Lucy) Morales, Albert’Wico” (Evelyn) Morales, and Ramon “Monchie” Morales. Sisters, Lupe Jones (Jimmy), Mary Lou Padilla (Claudio), and Irene “Nena” Padilla. Also surviving are grandchildren, Gabby Lewis (Ray), Eric Morales, Jr, Dennis Quintana, Roderick Quintana, Jacob Morales, Ezekial Morales, Jazmine Silvas, Elena Morales, Johnavan Silvas, Enrique Morales and Eduardo Rivas. Henry was preceded in death by his parents, Luis Sr and Sara, brothers Arturo “Magoo” Morales, Tony Martinez, Alfredo Martinez, Sisters Reyna Rios, Tina Peru, nephew James”Chamo” Morales, niece Candi Morales, niece Brenda Carbajal, and niece Katrina Vasquez.
