John B. (Bennie) Harter Jr., 76, a resident of Hurley, NM entered eternal rest Friday, May 20th 2023 at his residence.  He was born September 15, 1946 in Seattle, WA to John Benjamin Harter Sr., and Rita Dolores Faron. 

Bennie proudly served his country with the U.S. Army (66-68).  He was an avid car collector.  He worked as an operator in a wrecking yard.   He had many friends that he spent time with; they watched after him after his health declined.

He is survived by his sister, Zona Eileen Howard and husband Bennie of Battle Ground, WA; two nieces, Stacie Booth and husband Nathan; Tina Howard; one nephew, Chantry Howard and wife Amy.

A funeral service will be celebrated on Friday, June 16th at 10am at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with Duane Springer officiating.  Concluding service and interment will follow at Fort Bayard National Cemetery with full military honors.  Pallbearers are Harold, Charles, and Ian Goodyear, Joseph Chavez Sr., Louis Chavez, and Joseph Chavez Jr.
