StoneDDillon L. Stone, born January 1, 1930, left this world December 1, 2023.  Born in West Plains, Missouri, she moved with her family to Central, New Mexico at the age of 8.  She attended Central Elementary and Silver High School.

Upon graduating from Silver High School at the age of 16, she married Jimmy Stone on June 6, 1946.  On September 14, 1947, they welcomed Linda Jeanne Stone into the family, and on August 4, 1952, Mike Stone was an addition to the family.

As soon as Mike began school, Dillon started college, graduating in 1962, with a teaching degree.  She then began her career teaching biology, English, and history, first at Silver High School and later at Cobre High School.  Dillon taught for 25 years, and never regretted a moment.  Her greatest achievement was the love and admiration her students had for her.  When out in public, she was often recognized by her former students who went out of their way to greet her.  She was a member of the Western New Mexico University Education Hall of Fame.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda and her son, Mike; three grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and eight great- great grandchildren.

She will be sorely missed by her friends and family.

At her request, no services are planned, and there will be a private burial, where she will join the love of her life, Jimmy Stone, to whom she was married 65 years at Fort Bayard National Cemetery.

Cremation will take place at Terrazas Crematory.  Arrangements are with Terrazas Funeral Chapels and Crematory “Trusted care for the ones you love” ~ 575-537-0777.  To send condolences, visit www.terrazasfuneralchapel.com .
