Johnny Maldonado, age 84, passed peacefully on Friday, December 29, surrounded by his family.  He was born on August 23, 1939 to his parents, Francisco and Lucia (Richarte) Maldonado in Gila, NM. 

The family moved to Tyrone, New Mexico where he was raised.  The family then moved to Silver City, New Mexico.  He met the love of his life, Margaret (Sedillos) Maldonado, and were married for 66 years.  He was employed by Phelps Dodge Mining Corporation as a crusher operator and retired after 31 years.  His hobbies were boxing, fishing, hunting and he was dire fan of the Arizona Diamond Backs.  He loved spending time with family, friends and all his grandkids.  He also loved spending time at the cabin in Arizona, in which he built with all this family.  He was a strong person, hard worker, a teacher of life lessons that were instilled in his kids and family.  He will be greatly missed. 

He is survived by his lovely wife, Margaret; his two sons, Sam Maldonado (Ruth) of Tucson, AZ, Randy Maldonado (Elisa) of Chandler, AZ; his two daughters, Lillian Borrego (Armando) of Silver City, NM, Lucy Triviso (David) of Silver City, NM; his two sisters, Mary Vasquez of Silver City, NM, Christina Jaramillo (Jose) of Tucson, AZ; his twelve grandchildren; his twenty-five great-grandchildren; his four great-great grandchildren and his numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; his three brothers, Luis Maldonado, Severo Maldonado, Aurelio Maldonado; his two sisters, Manuela Valdiviezo and Rosie Roberts; his brother-in-law, Ralph Vasquez. 

The Holy Rosary will be held on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at 10:00am at St. Francis Newman Center, in Silver City, NM with Dr. Gilbert Arizaga reciting.  The Funeral Mass will commence at 11:00am with Father Pio Anthony officiating.  Pallbearers are Kyle Maldonado, Jeremy Borrego, Jason Borrego, Darryn Borrego, Jordan Morales, Jayden Maldonado, Joshua Blancett and Armando Borrego, Jr.
