Sylvia Flores Duran, 64, longtime Deming resident passed away Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, January 20, 2024 at 2 o’clock in the afternoon at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses. Inurnment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. Elder Daniel Macias will be officiating. Cremation has been entrusted to Baca’s Mimbres Crematory. The service will be live streamed via zoom meeting. ID: 835-2936-6512 Passcode: 349269

Sylvia was born March 25, 1959 in Casas Grandes, Chihuahua to Elena Flores. There are many words to describe Sylvia but the one word that stands out most for her was “Love.” Sylvia was a very loving, caring and giving woman and always put others before herself. She loved animals, especially her dogs. On March 13, 1986 Sylvia was baptized as one of Jehovah Witnesses in which she served Jehovah faithfully until her passing and looks forward to the resurrection in the near future. She loved her service to Jehovah and did all she could for her congregation. All those in the congregation, including the children, loved her and she always greeted them with love. Sylvia was known for her bubbly personality and distinguished laugh. Sylvia will be missed by the many hearts she touched.

She is survived by her husband Robert Duran; 2 children Robert (Annie) Duran Jr. and their children Jaden Vargas, Sidney Vargas and Kailani Duran, Melanie (Manuel) Ibarra and their children Niah and Elijah Ibarra; 4 siblings John (Anna) Flores, Esperanza Aguilar, Irma (Geronimo) Rivera and Mary Helen Allison. Survivors also include her many extended family and friends.

Proceeding Sylvia in death is her mother, Elena Flores; 2 sisters Hilda (James) Costulis and Rosa Emma (Jesus) Loya; a niece Guadalupe Aguilar and a brother-in-law Martin Aguilar Sr.
