Carlos F Herrera, age 91 passed away peacefully on February 25, 2024 at his daughter’s home in Rio Rancho, NM.  He was surrounded by his daughters Perla Herrera, Rosario Herrera and granddaughter Karina Herrera. 

Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at Six o’clock in the evening on Thursday, March 7, 2024 at Baca’s Funeral Chapels.  The Funeral Liturgy will be at Ten o’clock in the morning on Friday, March 8, 2024 at Infant Jesus Shrine in Hurley, NM.  At Carlos’ request, cremation will follow.  Officiating will be Father Casmir Anozie.  Serving as pallbearers are Paul Herrera, Fernie Martinez, Meme Martinez, Sam Gomez, Steve Gomez and Tyson Bays.

Carlos was born on May 22, 1932 in La Junta, Chihuahua Mexico, to Nepomuceno Herrera and Maria Ferrer.  Carlos was 17 years old when his passion started in Casas Grandes, Chihuahua, Mexico, working in a ranch training horses and maintaining the care of animals, when he came to the United States, he worked very hard to own his own horses and have many other animals of his own.  He loved having horse shows for friends and family, he enjoyed being in the parades, especially on 4th of July, he also joined the Cavalgatas in Columbus, NM.  Carlos had worked and retired from Chino Copper Mines.  He was kind, giving and always helping others. Carlos made many friends throughout his life and became well known for his love of training horses.

Carlos is survived by his daughters Perla Herrera and Rosario Herrera and son Victor Herrera, several grandkids and great grandkids. He is preceded in death by his two sons, Carlos Herrera and Nepomuceno Herrera.

He will always be remembered lovingly by all who knew him. The Family would like to express their sincere gratitude and support during his illness and time of loss.
